The Promise Sleep Made Me

And as you sang me the lyrics to all my favorite songs and told me stories of all the wonderful things we'd done before Sleep pulled me away, she promised to bring me back in the morning. To return me safely to your arms safely in tune with the patterns of your breath breathing mine. She swears there would not be another moment in Time for anyone once Death reached out for my hand, so she had to protect me just a little bit longer, for your sake. And everything was so perfect for the first time in so long. You wouldn't know it unless walls could talk but Sleep promised me she would bring me back as long as you promised to still be here in the morning.
